Who wouldn't want to help make people's vacation's better?
The first step to applying to Walt Disney World; choosing your career path.
Quick Foods and Services:
Never had a job before? This path is perfect for you! You'll learn the basics of the industry from cashier handling to serving food to starving families throughout the park. Most of the time you'll spend will be in cart or in giant pretzel huts. The pay's a little less then the other paths, but you'll get by fine.
Merchandise:
The step up from Quick Services, this particular path is a bit more challenging. Your products could range from candy apples to souvenier tee shirts and it's your job to know everything about everything. You could go from being stood outside selling giant Disney themed balls to standing inside selling cold ice pops and princess pillows. How you work is dependant on where you are located.
Custodial:
Set your sights low? Regardless, this is one of the jobs that's on high demand. Most people don't even apply for this one but select it just in case all the other job openings are taken. The job's pretty straight forward. Take a cart around with cleaning supplies, wear gloves at all times, clean up dirty baby diapers and unclog those toilets. It's not all bad, there are times when you're just on general trash duty and get to spend your shift out side of those toilets.
Attractions:
This job demands all sorts of personaly traits from those that apply. Having acting skills is a plus, as most of the time you'll be in a themed costume for the ride. You'll either be pressing buttons, pulling levers, or just organizing lines. Thing is, you'll be on your feet non stop, dealing with sweaty, hot, and tired guests.
Full Service Food and Beverage:
Love working at resturaunts, love being behind the scenes and actually preparing the meals? This is the highest complimentory paths in the Disney Industry, if you got the skills you'll be hired almost guaranteed. It's also one of the higher paying. You could either be working in a themed first class resturaunt or a middle class buffet. Either way, there's nothing to complain about.
Life Guard:
Always wanted to feel like a hero? Well most of the time you'll just be sitting in a red bathing suit with a red flotation device across your lap. At least you'll be tanned and have those diving skills you've always wanted.
Costuming:
Got those homely skills of sewing, cutting fabric without it tearing? Want to work completely backstage? Always wanted to work with the Characters running around the park? This is the job for you. Most theatre majors or costuming experienced graduated high school students apply for this branch. The competition is rough, and the drama is some of the best.
Oh but there's so much more to working for Disney then just the vast selection of Careers...
Disney World will provide apartment complexes for it's employees. The catch? Each flat consists of two bathrooms, three bedrooms, a living room area, and a kitchen... all you get to share with 5 complete strangers. People from all over the world with all sorts of histories. Who knows what kind of dramas will ensue! Choose your room mates wisely or before you know it, you'll have him or her making out at 3 am while you're trying to get some shut eye for the big day tomorrow.
But living in Walt Disney World estates, you've got to follow their rules and obey their infamous security. Price Management Security will look for those drinking booze in Non Alcholic houses, make it incredibly hard for your own friends and family outside of Disney to come visit you. Avoid them if you can.
With all this information, are you still prepared to take on this Career that requires you to smile Twenty-four/ Seven?
