Regina scrunched down in the passenger side of her brother’s truck. He had already told her everything she needed to know about things. That didn’t stop her from being petrified. What if she had a panic attack because of the dark? What if…
There were a lot of ‘what ifs’ in her life. The first and foremost being that she would get locked in a closet, again. It hadn’t happened for eight years, but…still, it could happen. She hated that. She really hated the scary ideas that came with those ‘what ifs’. What ifs had no place in her eyes and she was worried about that, not the things that were more likely to go wrong. Like being thrown from the back of a horse or failing her classes.
She took a deep breathe to stave off the panic attack that she could feel coming, even as she tried to keep from clawing at her head. The door slowly clicked open and she looked over at her brother. He sighed softly and held his hand out to her. With a wince, she reached out and she took his hand. With that, he carefully pulled her from the truck, the pink beanie hat hiding the hair that matched his.
“I’m okay,” she whispered.
She doubted he believed her.

GENERAL:
Regina is a girl who is too thin; all skin and bones with a fine layer of muscle that comes from years of working her tail off in learning how to ride. She has high cheekbones and a slightly square jaw which throws off her aesthetics slightly. It also doesn’t help that, if she wears anything low cut (which she usually doesn’t), one can her sternum and collar bone violently stick out. Her skin is paper white pale and it doesn’t help that she has her black hair in a pixie cut with dark blue eyes that stand out even more against her pale skin.[/ul]
Regina burns easily, though she doesn’t get moon-burns. Every time she steps out she makes sure to put on sunscreen. The one time she didn’t, she was so severely burned that she blistered all across her cheeks, forehead, and hands. She has since remembered or completely covered up before heading out.
She usually wears light colored turtlenecks with jeans and boots that she doesn’t mind stepping in manure with. She also usually wears hats when she can, usually tuques (or beanies) that match her turtlenecks, though she pulls them off when in class. She also wears gloves wearing ‘breathable’ ones when it is hot and thicker ones when it is cold. However, when she is with the horses, she usually stops wearing them while grooming them, but otherwise wears ‘all-purpose’ riding gloves for other jobs around the stables that she does for her horse.
, and this is my mind it goes !
over and over the same old lines
Regina is very shy and it is not from any reason of ‘shyness’, but because she has Asperger’s Syndrome. She tries to make connections, but due to the fact she’s often been laughed at for being unable to connect with other kids. She was also the ‘baby’ of the family and led a bit of a sheltered life. And, despite coming from a very competitive family, Regina herself is not that competitive. She doesn’t really mind if she wins or loses, but she does mind if she tries her hardest or not. She has to give her all or she isn’t sure what to do with herself.
Despite being socially awkward, she loves horses. Her entire life practically revolves around them and she is always willing to learn more about them. In retrospect, the rest of her schoolwork…actually doesn’t get shunted to the side. She’s just not as avid about it, though occasionally something sparks her interest about the subject, like history and the way humankind seems to insist on just repeating the same mistakes over and over again.
The easiest way to get her to open up is to get her talking about horses though she doesn’t realize she goes into long-winded, one-sided conversations, and has to be stopped. She is usually heavily embarrassed by this and is the main reason for keeping away from people. While she is lonely, and wishes she has friends, she is too scared she is going to get teased or drive them away to even try.
Regina is also very kind-hearted but is terrified of crying. If she is in tears, something has shoved her off the top of a very high cliff and she’s finally crashed. She doesn’t even cry if she’s in pain, mostly because she doesn’t even realize it. Regina gets panic attacks that usually stave from her fear of the dark, but can also stave from her panicking about social situations that have yet to happen.
All in all, Regina is rather poor in social situations and she tries to avoid them to the best of her ability by keeping to herself and scrunching herself into corners and keeping her nose in a book.

SIBLINGS: Henry Blake (older brother, age 35), Alicia Blake (older sister, age 33)
OTHER: Sarah Jones (Alicia’s wife)
HISTORY:
[/ul]
Regina was a complete surprise to her parents. They had their two planned children and were rather glad for the unexpected surprise, once they got over her shock. When born, they often called her ‘Our Little Valentine’ or ‘Valentine’ due to her being born a week later than expected. She was well loved and her siblings were more like extra parents then siblings. However, when she was six years old, it was Henry that noticed that something was…different about his little sister. It was Henry that took her to the doctor and, eventually, she was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome.
At the time, which was eight years ago, there wasn’t a lot of understanding and it misdiagnosed, at the time, as Autism. She was diagnosed at the age of eight with Asperger’s, but her parents were already uncertain. They began to go to support groups, but later it was mostly just Henry, despite the fact that he was trying to become a doctor. However, he changed his major from pediatrics to child psychology and instead became a psychiatrist for children, most affected by his little sister’s experience with being misunderstood, along with her social challenges.
Regina was five when she was introduced to horses. Living in Kentucky, it wasn't hard.
And it was love at first sight and it was something the cosmetology student, Alicia Blake, loved about introducing her little sister to the horse world was the fact she would get to dress her little sister up for things. Regina started doing Gymkhanas on the back of a school pony, but eventually began to get into the English competition, such as show jumping and dressage. It was only with Henry and Alicia pushing, in hopes that their sister would gain better social skills that she began to get into the competitions.
Despite her parents loving her dearly, they weren’t sure how to handle a child who wasn’t ‘normal.’ As such, they weren’t around as much as they should have been. With that, Henry and Alicia stepped up, both always using how their significant others reacted to their socially awkward sister as a gage for if they were ‘the One’ or not.
Regina was ten when she was the Maid of Honor in Alicia’s wedding in Quebec, Canada. Alicia and Sarah both became Canadian citizens beforehand, so they could have their marriage recognized. Alicia and Sarah visit when they can, but their lives in Canada keep them from visiting as often as they want.
She was six when she was given her fear of the dark. Her parents had set her up with a sleepover with some ‘nice kids.’ Unfortunately, they were spoiled brats and, fed up with Regina’s social awkwardness, teased her before the locked her in the, large, closet that was…dark. No one is sure why Regina fixated on the dark part, not the claustrophobic part, but no amount of counseling helped and it reinforced her social awkwardness. She mostly kept her fear at bay with a small wall night-light, or leaving a light on the other side of the room on.
She never went to another sleepover again and is terrified of the boarding aspect of the school.
She enjoyed the world of Dressage and Show Jumping when, by chance, she saw a Driving competition. Henry didn’t take much convincing to help Regina find a place to learn how to drive at the age of eleven. The instructor he found was an ex-World Combined Driving Champion, Sven Erikson and was one of the few people that Regina opened up to, mostly because he was a quiet sort. He didn’t mind her chatting away about horses, and usually had the conversation revolve around how to drive a single horse.
Only recently has she learned how to handle a pair when she was accepted to the Elemendorf Academy. Sven mostly pat her head and told her to do her best.
And Regina swore to do just that. She also hoped to make friends along the way.
